If I'm from California or another state, can I get a Nevada CCW permit?
Yes. The Nevada CCW permit is open to all American citizens who meet the eligibility requirements in the Concealed Firearms section (NRS 202.3653 through NRS 202.369) of the Nevada Revised Statutes. To obtain a Nevada CCW permit, you must attend a training course in the state of Nevada by an authorized CCW instructor. Residents must apply for the permit with the Sheriff in the county where they reside. Non-residents should apply to the Sheriff in the county where they attended the training. The Sheriff then has up to 120 days to issue or deny your permit.

Do I need to own a gun or know how to shoot before I take the class?
No. We specialize in first time shooters. If you don't own a firearm, we have a small variety of personal guns you may use at no additional cost. However, we do require you use factory ammunition in our guns. You may purchase ammunition for use in our guns from us at cost (what we pay for it). Please let us know in advance if you will be using our guns so we can make sure they are available and we have enough ammunition. We also recommend you purchase your own eye and hearing protection.

Am I eligible for the permit?
The Nevada CCW permit is your right! You can be refused if you have been convicted of a felony, domestic violence, or are legally declared incompetent or insane. There is a 5 year ban for those convicted of drunk driving (DUI) and a 3 year ban on misdemeanors. Please see NRS 202.3653 through NRS 202.369 for the complete eligibility requirements and Nevada CCW laws. After you successfully complete the training, we give you all the necessary certificates to apply (in person) to the Sheriff for your permit.

How much does the Nevada CCW permit cost?
Our certification prices are listed on the Training Courses page of this website. The price charged by the Sheriff is about $100 but is subject to change and often does. It also seems to be different for each county and residents must apply for their CCW permit in the county where they reside. Non-residents must apply for their CCW permit in the Nevada county in which the CCW certification training took place. Nevada CCW permits are valid for 5 years.

Will I need to register my firearms?
No! The state of Nevada does NOT register firearms or require serial numbers. CCW Firearms qualification is specific to Make, Model and Caliber only, NOT the serial number. However, Clark County (Las Vegas) does require the serial number from their residents as they have an ordnance that pre-dates state law.

What do I need for Identification for the class?

I live in California, can I have a local instructor teach the training for the Nevada CCW permit, or can you come here?
No! Nevada law is very specific. In order to teach the Nevada CCW initial and renewal certification course, an instructor must be authorized by the Sheriff's department in the Nevada County in which he/she conducts the CCW training. The state of Nevada requires the CCW certification training be taught only within the boundaries of the state of Nevada. They will not accept any training for the Nevada CCW permit conducted outside the state, or from instructors not authorized by a Nevada Sheriff's department. All Nevada Sheriff's department's will accept certification training conducted anywhere within the state of Nevada by a CCW instructor who is authorized by the Sheriff in the Nevada county where the certification was taught.
However, any NRA certified instructor from Nevada or elsewhere, can come to your home and teach any NRA firearms certification, but not the Nevada CCW certification.

How many firearms can I list on my CCW permit?
You may have as many firearms as you want listed on your Nevada CCW permit. However, you must qualify (and re-qualify for renewal) on each one you want listed. The qualification requires you fire 30 rounds (25 for 5 shot revolvers) per firearm.
Nevada Law was recently changed: When you qualify on a revolver, you are now authorized to carry ANY revolver. However, you are still required to qualify on each semi-auto listed on your permit by Make, Model and Caliber. The only place in the state of Nevada that also requires serial numbers is Clark County as they an ordinance that predates state law.

Why do you request we use factory ammunition instead of reloads?
Safety is very important! While we have no problem with reloaded ammunition, we do have a problem with people who become complacent, or are distracted while reloading. It can happen to everyone and does at one time or another. There are too many incidents where the reloader was distracted and did not put a powder charge into the case. This can cause a squib load, which could become a barrel obstruction. If there is a barrel obstruction and a round is fired, there is potential for injuries. Another reason is a distracted or complacent reloader could put a double charge of powder into the case, which causes excessive pressure when fired. Excessive pressure is another potential for injuries, as it could exceed the limits the firearm was designed to handle.
We want our training to be as safe as possible for our students. Therefore, we request the use of factory ammunition in all of our training to lessen the possibility of injury.
If it can't be done safely, we will NOT do it!

Where do you hold your classes?
We have two options. We bring our training to you at any time, holding the classroom portion of our training in your home, office or other locations and then go to the range for qualification. Or, we have scheduled training at pre-determined locations. Please check our Training Courses page for our scheduled class dates. If you can't attend these dates, we can make arrangements for another date. For everyone's safety, there are NO firearms or ammunition allowed in the classroom. However, firearms (no ammunition) will be allowed in the classroom for portions of some of our courses and students will be advised when to bring them in.
Please contact us to schedule your CCW/CFP, LEOSA, NRA, beginner and advanced firearms training.
